EFCC Denies Invasion of Skales Home Amid Allegations of Guns

Singer Skales is demanding that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) compensate him for the damages caused during a raid on his home. Skales said that his lawyers are working on the matter and hopes the EFCC will pay for the damages. He explained that one of the arrested individuals was an artist signed to his record label, but he did not have a personal link with the other one. Skales also expressed feeling unsafe as the EFCC had released his home address. The EFCC’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewole, did not answer calls for clarification on the situation.

Singer John Njeng Njeng, also known as Skales, is requesting that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) compensate him for the damages caused during a raid on his home on October 10, 2023.

Skales informed Saturday Beats, “My legal team is handling the situation, and I hope that the EFCC will do the right thing and cover the expenses for the damages.”

Regarding the individuals who were arrested at his residence, the singer explained, “One of them, Chukwuemeka Udemba (Jody), is an artist signed to my record label. However, I do not personally know the other individual, Jamal Onasola (Jamal). He accompanied the producer I was working with to my house.”

Skales also mentioned that the EFCC has not reached out to him since the incident and expressed feeling extremely unsafe since the agency publicized his home address.

When asked how he protected his wife and child during the raid, the singer said, “The EFCC operatives were armed. I remained calm so they would leave. After they left, I had to expose their illegal actions to the world, which resulted in my six-month-old daughter getting injured. They even took the CCTV cameras from my estate to eliminate any evidence of their presence.”

However, when our correspondent contacted the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewole, he stated that he needed “clarity” and “updates” on the situation and would get back to us. However, multiple calls made to his phone went unanswered.
