The eighth edition of ‘The Beatz Awards’ is scheduled to take place on November 18, 2023, at the Muson Centre in Lagos. This information was relayed by Elijah John, the founder and CEO of the awards, in a statement released to ‘Saturday Beats’.

According to John, “This year is particularly special because we have introduced a category specifically for female producers in Nigeria. We are advocating for female empowerment in the music industry. This is the first of its kind in the industry, and we have a considerable number of female producers. We want to lead the way in recognizing and honoring their contributions.”

He further added, “We have plans to introduce other categories in due course, and we will announce them as we proceed on this journey. Since the inception of ‘The Beatz Awards’, we have included a category for female disc jockeys, but none for female producers.”

John mentioned that the nominees’ party will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, after the announcement of the nominees. The awards event has been named ‘The Octave’.

Discussing the awards, he stated, “There are 25 different categories, with a minimum of five nominees in each category. The selection process was thorough, as each shortlisted individual in every category is deemed a winner. By involving the public in the voting process, we aim to incorporate music consumers into the decision-making.”

John emphasized the need for the industry to unite in supporting its members, stating, “We need to collaborate and ensure the progress of the Nigerian music scene. It is the right combination of institutions, both music producers and artists, that has led to its success. While it is great to gain global attention, we must continue to evolve and grow.”
