The Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) has announced its jury members for its 12th edition, taking place in Lagos from November 5 to 11. The festival received over 2,000 films from more than 100 countries during its submissions process. Notable members of the jury include producer Stephen ‘Dr.’ Love, writer-producer Abby Ajayi, as well as various other filmmakers and industry experts from around the world. The jury will select finalists for the AFRIFF Globe Awards, with 14 awards being given to recognize excellence in visual storytelling.
 

The Africa International Film Festival has announced the members of its jury for the 12th edition, which will take place from November 5 to 11 in Lagos.

According to AFRIFF, they received over 2,000 films from more than 100 countries across five continents during their call for submissions.

Latasha Ngwube, Head of PR & Media for AFRIFF 2023, revealed in a statement to The NAIJAFAVOURITE that the jury includes Stephen ‘Dr.’ Love, who produced one of Netflix’s most-viewed movies of the year, “They Cloned Tyrone”.

Abby Ajayi, a Nigerian-British writer-producer who has been nominated for an Emmy, is also part of the jury.

Other members of the jury are Nigerian film producer Greg Otudayo; Tsitsi Dangarembga, a Zimbabwean award-winning author and recipient of the 2023 African Peace Prize; and Wafa’a Céline Halawi, a Lebanese-French actress and director.

The jury also includes Geneva Wasserman, an entertainment and technology expert and SVP of Scripted Development at Dentsu; Ranada Shepard, a Cuban-American film producer who is part of the Japanese media industry; Nicholas Weinstock, a renowned Hollywood producer and Head of Inventions Studios; Busola Tejumola, a film acquisition expert and Head of Content at MultiChoice; Kate Henshaw, a veteran Nollywood actress; and Desmond Elliott, an actor, filmmaker, and lawmaker.

The jury’s responsibility is to select the finalists for the AFRIFF Globe Awards.

The international jury will present 14 Globe Awards to recognize outstanding artistry and storytelling in visual media.

AFRIFF, a globally recognized event founded by Ms. Chioma Ude, is a prestigious platform that celebrates the art of cinema and the talent of filmmakers from Africa and the diaspora.
