Yemi Alade Shuts Down Comparison with Tiwa Savage, Emphasizes Unity and Support

Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Yemi Alade talks to a fan who compares her to her fellow music queen, Tiwa Savage, saying she’s better than her colleague.

Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage are two of Nigeria’s most prominent female music superstars. Despite their successes, there has been speculation of a rivalry, at least among their fanbases.

To address this perception, Yemi Alade seemingly dismissed any notion of a bitter rivalry when she cautioned an enthusiastic fan on platform X (formerly Twitter) against speaking negatively about her Nigerian counterpart.

The incident unfolded when the self-proclaimed Mama Africa, scheduled to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire, shared a video clip with the caption, “Africa, our time is NOW!!”

In response, a fan with the username @ThatNigerianlad commented on the post with a derogatory remark aimed at Tiwa Savage, stating,

“U better than tiwa.”

Yemi Alade swiftly quashed the X user’s comment, asserting,“Comparison is the thief of Joy. We’re both winning…. celebrate and support us all.”
