On January 9, being Sunday 2022, will be an unforgettable day for Burna Boy’s sister, Nissi Ogulu, for a long time as she hosted her family and friends to an art exhibition in Lagos tagged, ‘Puzzled’.

At the event, Burna Boy looked in awe as his sister, who is also a singer and visual artist, created a live art work, wowing everyone who came to behold her artistic prowess.

The event was attended by Bose Ogulu (Burna Boy’s mother), Benson Idonije (Burna’s maternal grandfather), and Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, among others.

On how she combines colours in her paintings, Nissi told Merrymakers, “Usage of colours in my works is inspired by seeing life in different perspectives. Things are not black and white to me. Colours show variety and shows that there is more to everything than being black and white.”

Recounting how she started out as a visual artist, she said, “I started with arts when I was a kid. I think my closest memory is as a six-year-old redrawing Spiderman comics. I have always done visual arts. In my second year in A-levels, I dropped it as a subject because I had an exhibition. But, I wasn’t painting for grades anymore. It has always been a part of me.”

Revealing how she combines being a singer and artist, she said, “It flows very freely. If you look at the majority of my works, they have music influences. When I make music, I see visuals in colours in my head.”
