I desired to sell Mo’ Hits records for 1 million naira

Music mogul Don Jazzy discussed a significant moment in his career journey in a recent interview with Bounce Radio.

He shared a story of trying to sell Mo’ Hits Records, the label he co-founded with D’banj, for a small amount during a challenging time in their careers after the success of their song “Tongolo” didn’t bring the expected financial gains. Negotiations to sell to Obi Asika did not go through.

In 2024, Don Jazzy made headlines with the sale of a majority stake in Mavin Records to Universal Music Group for $150 million.

Don Jazzy shared the news on Instagram, expressing excitement about the partnership and the opportunity to showcase African music globally.

The collaboration with UMG is expected to expand Mavin Records’ reach and contribute to the international influence of African music while maintaining the label’s core values.
