In a candid interview with media personality Toke Makinwa, popular actor Jim Iyke opened up about the impact of delayed grief on his failed marriage.

In the trending video, Iyke attributed the breakdown of his marriage to his postponed grief, specifically related to the loss of his late mother.

He admitted that his inability to properly mourn his mother’s passing was the main cause. Iyke revealed that he delayed the grieving process, and by the time he confronted his sorrow, it had negatively affected his marriage.

Furthermore, he mentioned that he was in the process of building a house for his mother before her death.

Iyke also disclosed that as the only male child, he had to assume the role of the strong male figure in his family, leaving little room for him to express his emotions. While the rest of his family openly mourned, he felt the need to be the pillar of strength.

“I was dealing with conflicting emotions that I couldn’t handle. I had just lost my mom, and I didn’t know how to navigate the grief my wife was showing me,” said Iyke.
“I just needed someone to be there for me, but she didn’t need me in that way. She needed my love, and I couldn’t reciprocate. I diverted all my attention to our child, and she couldn’t understand it.”

“I didn’t properly grieve. I became the head of the family after my father emotionally fell apart, and I only had sisters,” he added.
